The Theatre Play Synopsis

If I can Dream

It is 10 August 1977, Elvis Presley sits in his living room at Graceland. He has decided it is time to write his memoirs - ‘Through My Eyes’ by Elvis Presley.

“If I Can Dream...”  is a biographical play, imagined from Elvis’s point of view using his own words and told in one act through monologue, music, and film to commemorate his life and career. He reflects on his life, from humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi, through his rise to stardom and how it happened that he became the man the world called ‘The King’. The story imagines Elvis as he reminisces, recalls anecdotes and reaches for the truth in his own words, about the man, the myth and the music. The script is transcribed from recordings of radio interviews, press conferences, concerts, and from his handwritten notes.

“If I Can Dream...” serves as a reminder that we shouldn’t be afraid to be different and hopefully inspire others to pursue their dreams.
